Jokipiin Pellava in Finland weaves this unique linen terry towel from linen and cotton. Due to its high linen content of 70%, it has a massaging effect and is therefore particularly well-suited for use in the sauna. The light-colored towel is solid-colored in off-white. A slightly darker shade is available in the “Black-Natural” color variant, which we offer separately. In that version, black cotton twine is used in the weft, unbleached, undyed cotton twine in the warp, and undyed, unbleached linen yarn in the loop warp.

Genuine terry cloth is a three-thread looped weave (comprising warp, weft, and loop) that, due to its third (loop) thread, is much more voluminous and absorbent than the two-thread terry cloth (warp and weft only), which merely resembles terry cloth. Since opinions on towels vary, and we want to cater to both those who prefer a soft towel and those who appreciate a coarser texture, we offer terry towels in different qualities: In addition to two cotton terry towels—one of which is particularly soft and fluffy, while the other, in the spirit of the finest hotel linens — voluminous yet with a slightly textured feel, we’re introducing a durable linen-cotton blend that’s hard to find these days.

We specify yarn fineness in Nm (metric number), where the higher the number, the finer the yarn. A yarn fineness of Nm 100 means that 100 meters of yarn weigh 1 gram. An additional number is appended if the yarn is spun from multiple single yarns; for example, Nm 100/3 for a yarn made from three single yarns.
